Since many people are unfamiliar with what a landscape design entails, it may be very helpful for you to review this overview of our design process. Our only goal is to give you the best return on investment for your living space both financially and physically. We will work with you, within your budget, to create your dream yard that will truly be a place where your whole family will enjoy.

The First Meeting is the foundation for the whole process. This will be the fact finding meeting for the designer and the building of ideas for the client. The following will occur at this first consultation:

  • Site analysis and overview, walking through the outdoor space (ideally, this should be done  during daylight hours.)
  • Exchange of ideas between the client and the designer.
  • Review of design process and benefits of using Hall Landscape Design.
  • Review of designer’s portfolio.
  • Proposal/Quote on the design cost.

If design price is accepted at this time and contract is signed, dates are then established to measure the property (depending on the time of day, and location, this can be done on the first visit), set up the preliminary design review (Stage 2), and set the date for the final design (Stage 3). Please note that 25% of the design fee is collected at this time.

The Second Meeting is the most crucial in the design process as this will be the review of the preliminary plan. Everything must be made very clear to the client as to what the designer has created in this rough draft. Every designer has their own style and methods as to how this will be achieved, but may involve all or some of the following:

  • Full-sized plan to review and mark up.
  • Plant list and photos
  • Photos of various elements (ie…Arbors, concrete types, pavers, water features…)
  • Physical samples of elements (ie… rock samples, wood samples, pavers…)

After a thorough review of the plan, revisions and enhancements are noted and marked up by the designer. At this point everything should be in place for the designer to go ahead and prepare the plan for the final draft. At this time, 50% of the design fee is collected.

This appointment should last approximately 1-2 hours.

The Third Meeting (or final stage) is to present and review the final plan and deliver 2 full color copies of this to the client (extra copies can be provided, with prior notice, and for an extra price). The final 25% of the design fee is collected at this time.

Now that the project is over don’t fear! The relationship doesn’t end here. We definitely want to be the main resource to get your job completed. Call now to find out how you can get started!
